Farmers Market
In my Communication Design class our final project was a neighborhood awareness campaign. Basically we were supposed to either invent an event that would being communities together, specifically in the town/city we live in. Or we could brand an existing event or venue that does that same thing. For that, we had to create a logo, and 5 deliverables. Those could range from a tshirt to a business card, anything that we could theoretically use to gain awareness for our event/venue.

Tshirt Series
In my Illustration class the last project that we did was a series of 3 tshirts. The each had to relate to each other, and I chose to do that by basing my illustrations on a bible verse. The verse I chose was, Psalms 91:4, He will cover you with his feathers and under his wings you will find refuge his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. We had to do a Form, type, and pattern based tshirt. Enjoy!

Editorial Illustration
In my Illustration class, aka Art 210, we did an editorial illustration project. This had a very quick turnaround, 2 weeks. We had to choose an article to read and create an illustration for. I chose the article about pulping of the rainforests in Asia, http://dotearth.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/02/08/activism-at-its-best-greenpeaces-push-to-stop-the-pulping-of-rain-forests/.
I did have a little trouble getting this how I wanted it, because my first idea did not work :P But here it is!

WPA Poster
This project in my Illustration class, aka Art 210, we did a modern day WPA poster project. During the USA’s last big economic troubles, the Works Progress Administration’s Federal Art Project employed thousands of artists to communicate the government’s hopeful outlook to the citizens. WPA posters were posted in stores, bus stops, public offices to tell people, “Things will get better. Here’s how to help!” The point of our posters are to be to raise awareness about a subject. We had to have some characteristics of the older posters, whether it was the typeface, or color pallet. I chose to do my poster on smoking, and deaths per year as a result of smoking cigarettes.
diVINO Winery Project
For my Communication Design class, aka Art 225, we did a wine branding project. We had to come up with a name for our winery, a winery statement, goals, location...etc. We had to do a series of 3 wines, and have them relate to each other, I chose to do a White Zinfandel, White Riesling and a Blush wine. This was my creative brief for the project:
The diVINO winery is based in the town of Bardolino, which is in Veneto, Italy. It is one of 20 regions of Italy, its capital and largest city is Venice. The name of the wine, diVINO, describes it well. Divino is divine in Italian, and vino is wine, therefore Divine Wine, and its just that, heavenly, and celestial.
The winery produces sweet wines, mainly aimed towards women. Many women do not enjoy the taste of a red wine, and their men who like wine want to be able to drink wine with them. Therefore, producing sweet wines that women can enjoy, their men will also enjoy having some company. The age range of the women could appeal to anyone from drinking age and up. These are not cheap wine, or expensive, they are mid-market wines for middle class women, who know a good wine when they taste it. We want the women to feel a sense of a higher, or heavenly class and elegance while drinking our wine.
The logo of the winery mixes an elegant and contemporary feel with the cursive and splatter of wine over the O, which is an artistic grape. Going along with the word of divino, meaning divine, and vino being wine, the logo is bringing out both of the words within divino.
The three varieties we are designing the packaging for will be a White Zinfandel, White Riesling, and a Blush wine. The color palette for this series is going to be directly related to the colors of the wine. The White Zinfandel’s labels will have a pink and green palette; the White Riesling will have a yellow and purple palette; and the Blush wine will have an orange and blue color pallet.
