Another Slouchy Hat
AND I made another slouchy hat for my friend. Its snug, and fits me well. Again, I need to work on making it baggier. I like this hat, really easy to make.
Slouchy Hat
I found a pattern on Ravelry for a Slouchy hat, and thought it was so cute. So I made one :) naturally. It didnt turn out exactly as I had hoped, not as slouchy, and baggy. I will try to make it baggier on the next one I make. But regardless, I think it's a beautiful hat.
Spring Break Woes
I am so upset at myself, it has taken me soooo long to get through the book I'm reading. Not because it's not good or anything, but there's just a lot of other things I would rather do. This week for spring break I have been really productive, but not in the reading department. I have started and finished 3 crochet projects, completed several scholarship essays, applied to jobs, and deep cleaned and organized my room. Of course my room is back to having a ton of crochet supplies on the floor :P but taking this long to finish a book is really rare for me. Over winter break I read an 800 page book in about 24 hours, well it was 3 books put into one, but with one title. I did a review for the book, Until the End.
Weekly Dose of Useless Information
During the summers when I was younger, my parents had me and my sister research a different topic of our choosing. I cant remember exactly if it was a different topic every day or every week and then we would have to report back during dinner. So I am thinking I will provide a weekly informational post about random subjects they will probably be useless, but hey it's always good to increase your knowledge, even if you don't use it. So starting next week, Friday, I will have researched a topic all week and will post my findings :)

Theresa Paden
My final project for my Idea and Form class was to choose a contemporary fine artist and research them. After learning about them we had to produce a faithful recreation or make a "cover" of a work that they have done. I chose to research Theresa Paden.
Theresa Paden was born in Southern California. She attended Fullerton College and Cal State Fullerton. In 1980 she was accepted at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA and started classes full time, majoring in Illustration. Theresa graduated in 1983 but decided not to go into illustration after all. She was hired at the NFL as an associate art director. Theresa designed Super Bowl logos, SB tickets and posters along with team logos, ads, and magazine inserts. After working there for a few years, she met her husband. When their first daughter was born, they moved to Ventura County and Theresa left the NFL to be a stay-at-home-mom. Her and her husband had two more kids and their youngest is now 18. She continued to paint while raising their kids, and about 2 years ago she started painting full-time. Since she had fallen in love with horses, she started painting them, and that's what she enjoys painting the most. Theresa does paint a variety of subjects, mostly horses, but other works are of animals you find in the west. She has done cattle, longhorn cattle, sheep, goats, coyotes, other western wildlife, flowers and Native Americans.
I decided to recreate her painting "Loyal One" (original shown below)
Here is my recreation of the painting (above)

Bubble Tea Bliss
I'm thinking I will make this post an ongoing tab of the bubble teas I try (aka boba tea which is also known as “bubbles” or “tapioca pearls” ) , and where I get it. They're just so good, so I will add a picture, flavor and what I thought of it :) so everyone can discover all the wonderful flavors this industry has to offers. I think just about anyone can find one they like. So here it goes... my ongoing tab of the bubble teas I try!
Passion Fruit Green Tea with popping Boba cold. I REALLY liked this flavor, it was so good. The popping boba would not go up the straw very well. Popping boba is boba with juice that ‘pops’ inside your mouth. There aren't many flavors of popping boba, but they do have Passion Fruit, and it was really good.
Mango with Boba cold. I went to Fat Straw here in Portland. I would not recommend this place. The Bubble Tea was powdery, and was not mixed very well, and or they put too much powder flavoring in. It was not too enjoyable. I may try this place once more, but if the same thing happens its not worth the $4 per drink. They have Milk Teas for $3.50, but they consider the Boba an extra, and price it 0.50 more.
Pineapple Milk Tea with Boba cold. It was pretty good, it tasted a little sweeter than normal pineapple, but it was good. Not much more to add :P
Strawberry Milk Tea with Boba cold. I went to Skinnidip by Pioneer Square. This drink was good, it was $3.75 and worth it. Same price where I usually go, the Chit Chat Cafe. It tasted like strawberry.... haha not much to say other than that it was good :)
Taro Milk Tea with Boba cold. I am not sure how I feel about this flavor.....taro is tropical plant primarily grown as a root vegetable for its edible starchy corm (tuber, like a potato), and as a leaf vegetable. It tastes kind of like buttered popcorn jellybeans, a sweet potato and kind of nutty. It wasn't my favorite flavor ever...
Watermelon Milk Tea with Boba cold. This flavor had a good after taste... that tasted like the typical watermelon flavored candy. BUT while you were actually drinking it.... it didn't really taste like much. It was good, but I probably wont get it again anytime soon.
Papaya with Boba cold. I did not like this flavor. I don't know if it was just this flavor, but the milk teas I usually get from here, the Chit Chat Cafe aren't as thick as this one was. It tasted alright I guess, it was just really sweet and I don't know, I didn't like the flavor, and it got worse as I kept drinking it.

Bubble Tea Addiction
Sometime in September, one of my friends introduced me to the amazing creation of Bubble Tea. This drink originated in Taiwan, it is a fruit-flavored tea, or milk tea drink with big tapioca pearls at the bottom. You drink them through a fat straw so that you are able to eat them. The tapioca pearls are usually black and are chewy, they don't really taste like anything. There are also popping boba, which are juice filled tapioca balls that burst in your mouth. There are many different flavors and you can get your drink cold or hot. I am so glad i was introduced to this amazing drink.
My Bubble Tea I drank yesterday: Passion Fruit Green Tea with popping boba (cold) :)
